Before you decide to cut flowers from your wedding budget, we invite you to check out Dragonfly Florist. Now, I know in this economy it is hard to get flowers for your wedding without being charged an arm and a leg for even the smallest amount of wedding flowers, but you don’t have to go without to stay on budget. You can still have beautiful flowers within your projected wedding cost.
My name is Kim Wagner, and I’m the owner of Dragonfly Florist. I love my job because it gives me the great pleasure of working with brides of all budgets and tastes to achieve the wedding of their dreams. As I am fortunate to work from my home, I don’t have the high overhead costs that most flower shops have. This allows me to offer more affordable services.
To save money on your wedding party bouquet, a word of advice: Keep it simple. A more traditional bouquet will not only be more graceful, but it will save you money. Since flowers are normally sold in packs of ten or so, an unnecessary variety of types will drain your budget and leave you paying for flowers that won’t even be used in your wedding.
You might think choosing roses will break your budget (unless it’s February), but they are a surprisingly lower costing flower that comes in large packs of twenty-five. By using mainly roses you could actually save on your flowers! To add some punch for to your bridal bouquet, add dendrobium orchids. Most florists say that orchids are expensive, and although they aren’t cheap, there are at least nine or twelve blooms on each stem which can be utilized if taken off the branch and attached to an orchid straw. This enables the flower to stay hydrated and spread throughout your bouquet, giving your wedding flowers that touch of elegance.
You can have the same affordable style in your reception arrangements, too. If your venue has high ceilings, like the 20th Century Club, The Priory, and The Sirius moss, plain candles on the tables won’t impress your guests. But what other options do you have within your budget? Why not try gladiolas? These tall flowers come in a variety of colors and can provide the ambiance you desire without the excessive cost. You can also choose your own vases or select from the many sizes and shapes I rent. Many weddings I have done this year featured gladiolas. If you want to see how beautiful they were, see the pictures below. For the sake of competition, I won’t list my prices, but one call will stop your heart (in a good way).
Another affordable idea for your reception flowers is the submersible arrangement. This arrangement has very little flowers in it, but it has a striking effect on your table. The submerged light will cast the flower color throughout the vase as it vase acts as a magnifying glass and enlarges each flower. It really is a lovely design for a table.
So before you give up and decide to just use candles on your tables, look into Dragonfly Florist. There is no reason you can’t have the elegant, show-stopping wedding flowers of your dreams.
