Ballroom Weddings – Soldiers and Sailors

As a century old historical landmark and architectural marvel constructed by world renowned architect Henry Hornbostel, Soldiers & Sailors is one of Oakland’s shining jewels as well as one of her best kept secrets. It is conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Pittsburgh, while bordering various parking and hotel accommodations. The grand ballroom of Soldiers & Sailors exudes a sense of effortlessly elegant grandeur, with a kiss of old world charm. It truly is a romantic reception site as timeless as your love.
Our versatile venue boasts a simple yet sophisticated color scheme, which does not rival bold, vibrant décor, but becomes prominent to accentuate more conservatively styled receptions, making it the perfect location, no matter what your vision may be. The grand ballroom’s dramatic high ceiling is hand painted with ornate detail. Exquisite craftsmanship of this magnitude is unparalleled in modern architecture.
The grand ballroom can accommodate between 100 and 300 seated guests with ample room for a dance floor. Our professional staff works closely with you to create a customized room set up your exact specifications. With a wonderful variety of in house caterers, all capable of offering a delightful sit down, buffet or station style cuisine, you’re sure to find the perfect selection that your guests will love, for any budget.
In addition to the grand ballroom, you and your guests will have the opportunity to enjoy several other spaces within the facility. The grand ballroom’s foyer, equipped with two newly restored oak bars, serves as a cozy cocktail space, allowing your guests to mingle before they are seated. The picturesque grand balcony overlooking the ballroom offers your guests a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the reception, as well as an excellent vantage point for wedding photographers. The boardroom, also included, serves as the perfect location for a bridal room, perfect for freshening up before your grand introduction. Our patio plaza can be reserved for anything from your wedding ceremony to a fresh outdoor cocktail hour.
If an onsite wedding ceremony is something you envision, we are happy to arrange for a ceremony, set up in either the grand ballroom or on our patio, which is then discretely rearranged during the cocktail hour.
Lastly, as an everlasting wedding gift to the happy couple commemorating the day of your union, Soldiers & Sailors offers a personalized engraved brick that will be placed in the wedding section of our patio.
Soldiers & Sailors is the perfect venue for a traditional start to your modern love story.
