Exquisite weddings don’t just happen. They are a collaboration of having a great vision coupled with talented wedding professionals who capture your dream… and bring it to life.
Our goal is to showcase Real Pittsburgh Weddings – to bring you, the bride-in-the-planning-stages, ideas, advice, trends and especially showcase some of these amazing wedding vendors in your own backyard!
Take the recent wedding of Katie and Jon – what a lovely couple. Their wedding was photographed by one of my favorite Pittsburgh photographers – Maria Angela Photography. I love her work and she has made my life easier by sharing some absolutely gorgeous wedding photos with me to use on our website.
Katie and Jon really wanted to showcase the vibrant city of Pittsburgh in their wedding theme – and did so from ceremony to reception. Beginning at Katie’s parents’ house in the lovely neighborhood of Bethel Park, the bride got ready for the big day ahead. The wedding ceremony was held at the exquisite Heinz Chapel in downtown Pittsburgh. This is a gorgeous ceremony venue which Katie had visited on an elementary school field trip and fell in love. She said she had dreamt of having her wedding ceremony at the Heinz Chapel from that moment on! The couple exited the chapel amidst a magical cloud of bubbles– then on to a two hour tour of outstanding Pittsburgh photo op locations.
Starting with the Carnegie Mellon Institute Columns and ending at the North Shore Pier near PNC Park. As luck would have it the Roberto Clemente Bridge was closed for the evening game and a block party, providing a great backdrop for more wedding snaps of the bride and groom. These are some pretty awesome wedding photo locations to showcase the “feel” of downtown Pittsburgh.
Then the party began as their wedding reception was held at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center. This is an excellent Pittsburgh wedding venue which takes great care in every element of your wedding.
About the Bride & Groom:
Katie and Jon were engaged last October 2013, so had only 9 months to plan their wedding. Katie said “we literally began planning the day after we got engaged and some places/vendors were already completely booked.” We know this to be true. Many vendors and venues only do one or two events every weekend, so start planning your wedding as early as possible!
This Pittsburgh couple lives in the city and so wanted to stay downtown for their wedding – hence the Heinz Chapel and Marriott City Center were perfect locations. Katie comments on this particular wedding venue – “The Marriott was in a great location and the customer service were unbeatable! They offered more in their wedding packages than anywhere else we looked. I would absolutely recommend them!”
Katie’s Favorite Moment:
Seeing Jon standing at the altar.
Katie’s biggest obstacle:
Finding the perfect wedding dress! Always a big relief when that’s accomplished. Katie actually found that perfect dress at Bridal Beginning, an elite wedding dress boutique serving Pittsburgh Brides for over 30 years. An amazing selection and they know how take care of their brides. The stylish bridesmaids dresses are also form Bridal Beginning. Simply gorgeous! Be sure to check out the last photo of this post – the up close detailing of Katie’s dress is amazing.
We also want to point out that gorgeously delectable wedding cake is from Fenoglietto’s Wedding Cakes. This family owned wedding cake bakery has two locations and is another long time wedding vendor in the Pittsburgh area.
Wedding flowers provided by Bettis Floral Event Design. Take a look at these beautiful buds. Not only are the bouquets lovely – see photos below, but the table centerpieces were very tasteful, simple and elegant.
And interestingly enough the company that provided the DJ services also did a great job with up-lighting and wedding videography. 2nd II None Productions. Packages like that make things real easy.
My personal favorite – if I may say so are Katie’s shoes! I love them. They are actually from Kohls – Vera Wang Collection!
Katie and Jon were pleased with every aspect of their Pittsburgh wedding. So we wholeheartedly recommend all of these talented Pittsburgh wedding vendors.
