“To make a long story short, Chris and I went to high school together, but didn’t start dating until our freshman year at Pitt. After 7 years of dating, 3 college degrees, 2 apartments, and 1 puppy later, we are finally getting married!”
We love doing real wedding stories about Pittsburgh couples. And we love showcasing our very favorite Pittsburgh wedding venues – Springwood Conference Center is certainly one of them. So when we heard about Leah and Chris we did our best to bring together the awesome details.
From the bride, Leah
Our love story begins in 5th grade during junior band where Chris and I first met. As romantic as this sounds, we didn’t start dating until our freshman year at Pitt! I was a microbiology major and Chris was in pharmacy school. Fast forward seven years, three college degrees, two apartments, and one puppy. We got engaged on February 15th, 2014 and planned our wedding for October 25th, 2014. One of the most special moments we had during the whole process is that my mom gave us her engagement ring. I can’t thank my mom enough for her priceless ring which I now wear as my own!
Having only eight months to plan a wedding certainty posed its unique set of challenges. We wanted to make sure the focus wasn’t on the minute details but on the experience of the entire day, celebrating our love with those we cared about the most. Because we both grew up in western Pennsylvania, we hoped to have a wedding which would encompass everything we loved about this region. Nothing compares to the beauty of the leaves changing during the fall season. We were fortunate enough to have a Saturday in late October that was mid-60’s and full of the vibrant colors of half-fallen leaves. We chose our venue so we could maximize the impact this incredible time of year could have on our day. With the cooperation of the weather, we were able to have an outdoor ceremony and most aspects of the reception were also outside. Knowing that attempting to compete with the array of natures’ colors would be a fools’ errand, we opted to go with neutral tones for our entire wedding party and allow the majesty of autumn to take center stage and be the focal point. It truly was the most perfect day and our dream wedding!

Leah and Chris had the most amazing weather for their late October outdoor wedding in Pittsburgh! It was gorgeous! Pretty sure it was at least 70 that day….
They got married at the Springwood Conference Center. Let me say, when I moved to Pittsburgh, I made a list of venues that I wanted to shoot at. This was on the list, and it was nothing short of spectacular!
Leah and Chris are pretty much some of the most kind people you will ever meet. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. They are so sweet and sincere and laid back. It was such an honor to work with them! Thank you Leah and Chris for having me document your day!!! I am so honored and it was beautiful!!!
