Wedding Registry Ideas and Questions
My fiancé and I really don’t need a bunch of gifts, (we’ve both got everything we need). Is it O.K. just to ask for money?
To put it bluntly, NO! There is a way around this though; tell your family and close friends your wishes. Quite often your guests will ask a family member what you need, and they can tell them for you. When you do your registry, just ask for a few things. Quite possibly, they will opt to give you a monetary gift. Accept any gift you get graciously, and don’t forget to send your thank you notes! This should be done within two weeks of receiving the gift.
I am getting married this summer and my fiancé and I are both 32 years old. We have lived together for 2 years and have EVERYTHING we could possibly need. Our friends keep asking where we are registered but I really can’t think of anything we would need from Bed, Bath and Beyond or Williams-Sonoma. Are there any other options for us?
In the past this has been somewhat of a sticky area for couples. You have all the household items you need, but you really can’t just ask guests for money. Nowadays there is a great option for the couple that has everything. Registering for your honeymoon! If you find you have all the traditional registry items, or are just looking for something a little different, go to www.honeymoonwishes.com, or one of the many other websites offered, and register for your honeymoon. Guests then have the option to go to their registry and purchase gifts such as “A Night on the Town”, “A Night in our Honeymoon Suite”, “A Spa Day” or a number or different “gifts” for the newlyweds.
The honeymoon is one of the most magical parts of a wedding and it really should be amazing. Most couples find that putting money towards the “extras” on their honeymoon can be very difficult after paying for a wedding. The honeymoon registry is a great way to have all the extras without draining your savings any further. Imagine escaping for a 6 day get away to your dream destination and being able to enjoy spa visits, excursion, and dinners without the stress and guilt of pulling out your credit card every time!
